By Boy Scouts Participate in Memorial Day Activities

By Paul M.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Boy Scout Troop 125 of Commack, New York participated in various Memorial Day activities. These activities consist of flag placement at Pinelawn National Cemetery, attending a service at Commack United Methodist Church, and marching and laying a wreath in a parade that was approximately one mile long.

On Saturday morning (5/26/12), the troop met at Pinelawn National Cemetery to place flags in one section. Scouts took bundles of flags from boxes, and placed them at gravesites of our Veterans. On Sunday Morning (5/27/12)' the troop met at Commack United Methodist Church (CUMC) for a service. Scouts participated in readings and some scouts read names of war Veterans as well at the service. On Monday morning (5/28/12), the troop marched in a Memorial Day Parade and laid a wreath at the end. The parade route was approximately one mile. Along the route, the American Flag and the Boy Scout Flag were carried along the route. After the parade, two scouts brought up a wreath and a wreath stand to place the wreath.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Boy Scout Troop 125 of Commack, New York participated in various Memorial Day activities. In my opinion, these activities were fantastic for Boy Scout Troop 125 to participate in.
